Devastated by lockdowns here in Victoria during 2020 & 2021, I decided to turn my kitchen, cellar door, winery into a place of purpose.

It didn’t take long before I realised that making cold pressed soap was going to be so addictive, I loved it! Actually I was going to make hand sanitizer however, everyone else on the planet had the same idea, so I stayed a little old fashioned and started making cold pressed soap by hand instead.

Before long I started experimenting by using wine in the soap making process and matching the soap to our existing wine range. As part of my ingredients I used grape seed oil, dehydrated grape skins trying to create natural colouring, using and mixing both essential oils and fragrance oils to create similar notes that we find in our wine making, citrus, berry, vanilla, apple etc…. the list goes on, also using our ground coffee grinds in our espresso body bars just seemed like common sense, recycle when you can!

Our handcrafted soap is slowly cured for approximately 4 weeks with each bar being unique and varying slightly in shape and weight. I use oils known for their nourishing qualities such as grapeseed oil, coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, avocado oil and sweet almond oil.

In addition to soap, came the arrival of our soy wax candle range.

Anyone who lives in small towns in regional areas and surrounded by beautiful bushland, knows that it only take one night of storms to take out our power for days and this year with the storms in June, many weeks.

I didn’t want to just make any candle it had to have purpose also.
First came the ‘Weekender’ which is all about the Yarra Valley bushland, followed by Blush Cuvee (as we make a very nice sparkling) and then finally ‘Date Night’ which actually smells like a clean man, yes! I know what your thinking? what does a clean man smell like? Date Night is very popular indeed!

Our natural, hand poured products are free from harmful chemicals such as sodium laurel sulfate, parabens, phthalates, petroleum by-products and artificial preservatives. Creating soaps and candles the old fashioned way made in small batches with lots of care and attention to detail has thus far been part of my 2 year lockdown project and will continue.
